This room has the name of the saint, bishop and father of the church, born in Tagaste in 354, because of the relationship that Ciutadella had with the convent of San Agustín, located where now there is the Seminari.
We attribute this room to San Francisco, which was born in Asís in 1182, by the Franciscan convent that there was in Ciutadella, where the post office building is now located. Although the convent has disappeared, its church is still preserved, bearing the name of the saint as its owner.
The reason why this room pays homage to San Sebastian is for the same reason as the name of the hotel: this part of the building faces the street that bears the name of this saint. Sebastian was born in Narbonne in the year 255 and he was a soldier of the Roman army.
San Cristóbal has given name to this beautiful street of Ciutadella, to the hotel and specifically to this room. Little is known about the life of San Cristóbal, but its name means "bearer of Christ", since, as popular legend indicates, he helped the baby Jesus cross a river.
It could not miss the homage to this saint, patron of Ciutadella and his festivities, so known and appreciated. Its festivity is celebrated on June 24, which is related to the summer solstice and it is customary to light bonfires, using fire as a purifying element.
This room receives the name of Santa Clara in homage to the monastery of Clarisas that there is in Ciutadella since 1287. It is close to the hotel and its monastic closing activity still continues. Santa Clara was born in Asís in 1194 and she was a faithful follower of San Francisco.
Virgen del Carmen gives its name to this room, as well as the Carme church, located next to the El Carme apartments and inhabited today by Carmelite nuns. Its name comes from Mount Carmel, in Israel and the name derives from the word Karmel or Al-Karem that could be translated as "garden". The Virgen del Carmen is celebrated on July 16 and is the patron saint of fishermen.
The highest room of the hotel gives its name to San José, as well as one of the shorter streets of Ciutadella, which, in fact, a large part of the street is occupied by the hotel building and the old church that bears his name and which is now an exhibition hall. Saint José Maria's husband, mother of Jesus.
